The Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, HE Mr Xavier Xavier Bettel, on a working visit to Niger since Sunday June 5, 2022, had a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Republic, Head of State, HE Mohamed Bazoum, the same day in the evening at the Palace of the Presidency.

Following this interview, President Mohamed Bazoum and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg co-chaired a meeting extended to members of the two delegations before hosting a press conference.

The President of the Republic, during this press conference, expressed his gratitude to HE Mr. Xavier Bettel and thanked him very sincerely, on behalf of the government and the people of Niger, for having agreed to pay a working visit to Niger.

Speaking of the close cooperation between the two countries, the Head of State welcomed the assistance provided by Luxembourg to Niger, in particular through the Indicative Cooperation Programme, currently being implemented in the country. .

This visit will give new impetus, will consolidate the effort that Luxembourg has made so far, he underlined.

Cooperation between the two countries has two components, one of which concerns basic social services, in particular water supply and sanitation.

On this subject, President Mohamed Bazoum said that Luxembourg is one of the countries that makes the most efforts in the water supply and sanitation sector.

“You are the leader of donors in the field of hydraulics. It is to your credit,” affirmed the Head of State.

In the field of education, training and professional integration, Luxembourg has also developed a certain specialization to which it has allocated significant resources.
