The President of the Republic HE. Mohamed BAZOUM undertakes from Tuesday July 12 to Wednesday July 13, 2022, a work and friendship visit to Chad.

The purpose of this visit to Ndjamena falls within the framework of periodic contacts between the two leaders and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation due to the unbreakable ties of geographical, cultural, economic and social proximity between Niger and Chad. . The two neighboring countries agree on each occasion their points of view in terms of strategies at the regional level.

Subjects of common interest such as the security emergency in the Sahel between Chad’s commitment in the central zone and in the fight against Boko Haram, economic issues for the two oil-producing countries as well as the prospects for Lake Chad threatened will be on the menu of discussions between Presidents Mohamed BAZOUM and that of the Chadian Military Council (CMT) Mr. Mahamat IDRISS DEBY.

In addition, the two Heads of State will undoubtedly raise the issue of Lake Chad with the strengthening of resilience and the strategy for revitalizing the living environment of nearly 50 million of the four member countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission. (LCBC).

This will be the second visit of the Head of State in a year after having attended the funeral of President Idriss DEBY ITNO on April 20, 2021, present a few days earlier in Niamey at the investiture of HE Mr. Mohamed BAZOUM. The President of the Republic had shown all his empathy to the family and to the people of Chad following his tragic death and undertook to support the Transition towards the return to a normal constitutional order.

Niger and Chad share a 1175 km long common border located entirely in a desert area.

The President of the Republic is accompanied in this visit of friendship and work by a delegation composed of:

• General MAI MANGA Oumara, Grand Chancellor of National Orders;

• Mr. Hassoumi MASSOUDOU, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation;

• Mr. Alkassoum INDATOU, Minister of National Defense;

• Mr. Hamadou ADAMOU SOULEY, Minister of the Interior and Decentralization;

• Mr. Mahamane Sani MAHAMADOU, Minister of Petroleum

• Mr. Ibrahim SANI ABANI, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic;

• Mr. Aboubacar DAN SOKOTO, Ambassador of Niger to Chad.
