President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as someone that can take Ghana to next the level in terms of development.
He said Dr Bawumia was a man who lived and breathed Ghana, ‘and whatever commitments he has made before you, and the people of Ghana, I can put my hand on my heart and say he will deliver on each one of those commitments.’
He was speaking at the launch of the NPP’s 2024 manifesto, in Takoradi, titled: ‘Selfless Leadership, Bold Solution for Jobs and Business.’
According to President Akufo-Addo, the leadership that Dr Bawumia, would provide was exactly the type of the country needed to continue the upward trajectory in terms of development.
He said: ‘I do not think there is anybody in this country who is in a better place to testify about the capacity of our presidential candidate than me. I can say that there is not one day that I regretted joining my life to his and his to me.
‘He has been a module of ho
nesty, loyalty, dedication and patriotism. People have had problems with their Vice-Presidents in the Fourth Republic… I, Nana Addo, has never had any problem with my Vice President.’
The President said the NPP’s Flagbearer was a man who had respected for the people of Ghana and would work night and day to make sure that the country continued the upward trajectory the government had achieved.
‘If indeed the biggest strategic interest of the 21st century is the development of a digital economy, and the unfolding of the fourth industrial revolution, there is only one man in Ghana today that can take us through that fourth industrial revolution, and Mahamudu Bawumia is his name,’ President Akufo-Addo stated.
The President also described Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Running Mate of the NPP, as an achiever, and one who would work tirelessly to deliver on his assigned tasks.
He noted that: ‘Talking about these two people, we are talking about achievers, so I have no hesitation as the outgoing president in sayi
ng that they will be worthy successors to the office of President and vice.’
President Akufo-Addo urged the rank and file of the party to put in extra efforts ‘to go out and sell this golden ticket to Ghanaians to make sure that when the results are declared hopefully, on December 8, we will hear the sweet news that Mahamudu Bawumia has won a clear victory.’
