1.3 billion dollars for Niger, as part of the implementation of the Great Green Wall, President Bazoum instructs the establishment of a Task Force.]

The President of the Republic, Head of State, HE Mohamed Bazoum, chaired Monday, May 30, 2022, a meeting on the mobilization of funds for the implementation of the Great Green Wall, in particular the Great Green Wall accelerator.

This meeting took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, HE Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou and the ministers concerned.

At the end of the ”One Planet Summit”, 19 billion dollars were mobilized for the implementation of the Great Green Wall. Of these 19 billion dollars, six billion are mobilized for the countries of the Great Green Wall, including 1.3 billion for Niger, indicated the Minister of the Environment and the Fight against Desertification, Mrs. Garama Saratou Rabiou Inoussa, after this meeting.

The participants in this meeting discussed the possibilities for Niger to propose bankable projects in order to benefit from more funds for the implementation of the Great Green Wall, she said.

“The implementation of the Great Green Wall concerns many sectors (environment, agriculture, livestock, energy, etc.). This is why the President of the Republic has instructed us to set up a task force which will bring together all the players concerned with the Great Green Wall in order to very urgently propose projects to be submitted in order to mobilize much more funds. for Niger,” said the Minister.
