Tema: A man believed to be in his 20s onboard a commercial vehicle traveling from Tema to Kasoa experienced a medical emergency on Tuesday, prompting immediate assistance from fellow passengers.
According to Ghana News Agency, the incident began when the man suddenly became unresponsive, calling for help and indicating difficulty in opening his hands to provide his fare to the vehicle’s conductor. Passengers reported that shortly thereafter, the man’s body became stiff, heightening their concern and prompting them to urge the driver to stop the vehicle.
The passengers helped to carefully lay the man on the roadside, which attracted a crowd, some of whom offered assistance by providing water and attempting to comfort him. Despite their willingness to transport him to a hospital, the passengers faced uncertainty due to an ongoing strike by the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association, leaving them unsure of which hospital to choose.
Eyewitnesses contacted both the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana National Ambulance Service, who arrived at the scene within minutes. Fire officers were the first to reach the location and subsequently handed the man over to the ambulance team. He was then placed on a stretcher and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
