Cape town: Sancorp Group, the Dubai-based energy and commodities trading conglomerate, has announced its participation as a Platinum Partner at the upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, scheduled to take place in Cape Town from October 12-16. This partnership is a significant step in cementing the group's presence and influence in the African energy sector, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to African Press Organization, Sancorp Group operates comprehensively across the energy value chain, encompassing crude oil and refined product trading, upstream asset participation, and oilfield services. The group maintains trade relationships with major entities such as Trafigura, Mercuria, Dangote Petroleum Refinery, and several others within the African continent. To date, Sancorp has successfully structured investments exceeding $2 billion in the African oil and gas sector.
The group's extensive commercial network makes its participation at AEW 2026 a crucial opportunity for operators, refineries, and traders seeking to establish or expand supply relationships, especially in West Africa. Notably, Ivory Coast stands as Sancorp's most active market, with annual flows projected to surpass $600 million through dealings in refined products, crude, LPG, and fertilizers.
In July 2026, Sancorp achieved a significant milestone by delivering over 36,000 tons of gasoil to the Soci©t© Ivoirienne de Raffinage (SIR) in Abidjan. Furthermore, the group holds a government-certified license for importing and distributing fertilizers in the Ivory Coast, supplying 500,000 bags of urea and NPK annually.
Sancorp's influence extends to Ghana, where it supplied over 300,000 tons of gasoil and gasoline in 2024. In Nigeria, its subsidiary, SCP Energy, holds NIPEX certification for upstream service capabilities and acts as a certified export trading partner to the Dangote Refinery. The group is also making strategic moves into Angola, registering with Sonangol and negotiating minority interests in deepwater production blocks and a stake in a planned grassroots refinery.
For attendees of AEW 2026, Sancorp's participation offers a glimpse into the evolving Gulf-to-Africa commercial landscape, characterized by structured finance, trading capacity, and a robust presence across multiple West African markets. The Platinum Partnership provides Sancorp with comprehensive visibility throughout the AEW program, as it aims to expand its trading book and strengthen its upstream and refining positions.
NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, notes, "Sancorp is built around relationships and execution in markets where both of those things are hard to get right. This is a group that is actively trading, investing, and building upstream positions across West Africa, and their presence at the event creates real opportunities for the operators and governments in the room."
As a Platinum Partner, Sancorp is poised to engage with operators, refineries, national oil companies (NOCs), and investors on trading partnerships, upstream investment, and supply-chain development throughout West and Southern Africa.
