Rabat – President of Morocco’s National Commission for the Control of Data Protection (CNDP) called, here Thursday, for strengthening cooperation and collaboration between members of the Atlantic Inter-Network to keep up with the rapid pace of technological change.
Speaking during the first Atlantic inter-network meeting of personal data protection authorities, Seghrouchni stated that this meeting, hosted by the CNDP with the participation of various networks, notably African, Ibero-American, European and Portuguese-speaking, aims to set up a framework conducive to the exchange of experience and expertise on personal data protection between these structures.
The aim is to discuss and examine together the various topics of the day, notably artificial intelligence and euro-data, he said.
For his part, Adamou Iro, from the African Network of Personal Data Protection , said that the main aim of the meeting was to pool experience and promote the protection of personal data as a human right.
In this respect, h
e welcomed the CNDP’s initiative to pool efforts and collaborate with other networks around the world for fruitful exchanges for all.
For her part, Anu Talus, from the European Data Protection Board, said that EU data protection authorities are strong advocates of the convergence of data protection legislation worldwide, noting that this benefits both individuals and businesses.
These meetings, organized by the CNDP, aim to contribute to this convergence, she maintained, congratulating, in this respect, the Moroccan side for this initiative.
‘All the topics discussed are key elements in ensuring that national data protection authorities are independent and able to enforce fundamental personal data protection rights very effectively,’ she added.
The meeting was also attended by the Ibero-American Data Protection Network, Smart Africa, the Lusophone Data Protection Network, the European Union Commission DG-Justice and the African Union.
