Nigeria’s Lekoil to Unveil ESG-Driven Growth Strategy at African Energy Week 2025

Cape Town: Nigeria’s Lekoil is set to present its expansion plans and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)-driven growth strategy at the African Energy Week (AEW) 2025, held in Cape Town. The company’s participation highlights its rapid project execution, increasing investments, and involvement in national development and energy transition initiatives.

According to African Press Organization, Lekoil has interests in a portfolio of marginal and offshore assets across Nigeria. The company boasts a record of technical achievements and swift project execution. Lekoil was part of the consortium responsible for drilling the Ogo-1 and Ogo-1 ST wells in the OPL 310 license offshore Lagos in 2013. This venture resulted in one of Nigeria’s largest offshore discoveries, with estimated recoverable resources exceeding 700 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Following this success, Lekoil acquired a majority stake in the Otakikpo field in OML 11, Rivers State, and commenced production within 18 months, setting a benchmark for speed and efficiency among indigenous operators. The company continues to drive momentum at Otakikpo as part of a broader expansion plan to enhance output and optimize existing infrastructure.

Lekoil’s journey exemplifies the potential of aligning local capacity with strategic leadership and collaborative investment.
