A Morocco-Paraguay parliamentary friendship commission has been officially created at the Paraguayan National Congress.

The list of members was handed over on Friday to the Moroccan ambassador to Paraguay, Badreddine Abdelmoumni, by the Speaker of the Paraguayan Congress, Basilio Nunez.

The new Morocco-Paraguay parliamentary friendship commission, made up of eight members, will be chaired by Senator Noelia Cabrera.

Basilio Nunez took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to HM King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 25th Throne Day anniversary.

The Speaker of the Paraguayan Congress stressed the important role of parliamentarians in strengthening bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

For his part, Badreddine Abdelmoumni informed Basilio Nunez of the latest developments concerning the Sahara issue, in particular the letter of French President Emmanuel Macron to HM King Mohammed VI in which he officially informed the Sovereign that he “considers that the present and future of Western Sahara lie within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty”.

Basilo Nunez said he was aware of the sensitivity of this issue for Morocco and pledged to ensure that his country always stands on the side of Morocco and its legitimate rights.

He also expressed the wish to visit Morocco soon with Noelia Cabrera to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

In addition to Basilo Nunez and Noelia Cabrera, this parliamentary friendship commission is made up of the following senators: Hermelindo Alvarenga de Ortega, Juan Carlos Luis Galaverna Ortega, Derlis Hernan Maidana Zarza, Norma Beatriz Aquino Luraghi, Dionisio Oswaldo Amarilla Guirland and Antonio Carlos Barrios Fernandez
