Lugari: Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) Nabii Nabwera has announced plans to establish an integrated special needs school at Maturu. The MP stated that the construction of the school will begin once discussions with friends and partners, who are interested in providing financial support, are finalized.
According to Kenya News Agency, the announcement was made during a church function at Matumbwani Friends Church (Quakers) in Lwandeti Ward. Nabwera mentioned that the planned school is expected to offer education up to grade 12. He encouraged parents of children with disabilities to send them to school instead of keeping them at home.
During his address, Nabwera shared his observations from a recent trip to London, where he met a blind government minister. He used this example to emphasize the importance of education and inclusion for children with disabilities. Nabwera remarked, “God has a reason why he gave you that child.”
In addition to the school for special needs children, Nabwera also revealed plans to construct a modern twin laboratory at Mabuye Secondary School. He further announced that he would soon be commissioning classrooms at Luandeti DEB and initiating the construction of four new ones in the coming week.
