Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences and compassion to President of the Republic of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following the death of former Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Amadou Mahtar Mbow.
In this message, His Majesty the King expresses to Diomaye Faye, the family of the deceased and the entire Senegalese people, His sincere condolences and His deep compassion.
On this occasion, the Sovereign deplores the passing of a notable African intellectual figure who brought ideals of fraternity, justice and equality he held deeply to the highest level, higlighting that the deceased was also an eminent member of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco.
‘My country honours the memory of a faithful friend and pays tribute to his work, notably as Director-General of UNESCO’, writes His Majesty the King, imploring the Almighty to grant the deceased His holy mercy.
