Bolgatanga: The leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has congratulated Mrs. Latifa Mohammed, a neonatal nurse specialist at the Bongo District Hospital of the Upper East Region for her outstanding research work.

‘The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association is truly proud of our member who has distinguished herself in her professional carrier and has won the admiration of all of us,’ Mr. Samuel Alagkora Akolgo, the First Vice President of the association said in a statement.

The nurse undertook a research work, titled ‘Experiences of Nurses and Midwives Who Provide Support to Bereaved Parents during Perinatal Deaths in Ghana: A Descriptive Phenomenological Study.’.

Mr. Akolgo congratulated her on behalf of the National Executive Committee and the National Council of the Association, saying, ‘congratulations to our adorable Latifa Mohammed of Bongo Hospital for making us proud.’

The association’s regional leadership through its Public Relations Unit, in a stat
ement issued by Mr. Desmond Yaani, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and his Assistant, Mr. Anoyas Musah, also congratulated the Nurse Specialist for her work.

The statement said the research work had contributed significantly to patient care in the Bongo District and its environs and described the research as ‘a landmark achievement for the district.’

It said Mrs. Mohammed, who was adjudged the best District Nurse for 2024, was committed and passionate about her profession and that such qualities inspired other healthcare professionals in the district and beyond, to also contribute to healthcare delivery.

‘The Association expresses its gratitude to Mrs. Mohammed for her dedication to healthcare improvement and looks forward to her future success,’ the statement said.

Following the congratulatory statements, some members of the Association flooded social media with similar messages to their colleague and encouraged her to continue such research work to improve healthcare delivery.

Mr. Richard Addah, an
award-winning paediatric nurse, wrote: ‘Congratulations for your contributions to the faculty of scientific knowledge in perinatology, and for emerging as best nurse in the Bongo District.’

Madam Irene Ngeh, a Tutor at the Nursing Training College in Bolgatanga, who also congratulated Mrs. Mohammed on social media, said, ‘Congratulations my dear! We are proud of your achievement!’
