Lagos: Experts from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission are undergoing training to enhance coordination for the accelerated reform of digital trade. ECOWAS, with assistance from UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), organized an e-trade reform tracker (eTRT) training in Lagos, Nigeria, on Monday, 14th July, 2025.

According to African Press Organization, the eTRT is an innovative digital tool designed to support implementing agencies in tracking progress, coordinating actions, and enhancing accountability in the implementation of e-commerce reforms. This tool aims to streamline internal and inter-departmental coordination and generate reliable data for monitoring and evaluation.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Mr. Kolawole Sofola, Director of Trade at ECOWAS Commission, speaking on behalf of Madame Massandjé TOURE-LITSE, ECOWAS Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, emphasized the hands-on nature of the session. He noted its importance in exploring the Tracker’s functionality and its role in the operationalization of the Regional E-Commerce Committee. This committee will serve as the governance platform for the regional e-commerce agenda.
