Pirates have abducted the Divisional Officer of Idabato subdivision, Ndian Division in the South West region.

Ewane Roland was abducted around 2 am on Tuesday, security sources have confirmed.

Pirate activities have been on the rise in this area, mostly from Nigeria.

The Senior Divisional Officer of Ndian, Gilbert Guibai Baldena, confirmed the information in a confidential letter sent to the Consulate General of Nigeria in Buea.

The administrative authority informed the Nigerian diplomatic house that the Divisional Officer was kidnapped alongside a staff of the Idabato Council, Etongo Ismaiel.

The abductors were on flying boats and took the direction to Nigeria, he added.

Cameroon is seeking support from their Nigerian counterparts, citing cross-border cooperation between the two countries.
