Sekondi-Takoradi: Some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region have expressed optimism they would perform excellently in the ongoing 2025 BECE examination. According to them, the first paper (Social Studies) they wrote was a testament that they would sail through successfully with the other papers they would be writing.
According to Ghana News Agency, candidates were in high spirits ready to sit for the examination. GNA visited some centers within the metropolis and observed the positive outlook among the students. Master Nicholas Abakah, a candidate from St. Mathias Catholic School, who wrote at the GSTS Examination Center, was excited after writing the first paper and hoped the other papers go in their favor. He described the first paper as ‘relatively cool’ and appealed to examiners to be lenient when marking their papers. He advised candidates to continue studying as the examination unfolded and urged them not to rest and leave any stone unturned till the very last paper was written.
Master Joel Nyarko, another candidate from Christ Redemption Academy, expressed mixed feelings about the whole ongoing examination saying, ‘I was very tensed and anxious when we were asked to get seated for the first paper.’ He explained that as a first-time candidate, it was normal to feel nervous and expressed his readiness in taking up all the papers with flying colors at the end.
Other candidates at the Armed Forces School Complex Examination Center expressed their excitement about the fact that they were able to participate in this year’s BECE and were hopeful of a better result to climb onto the next level in their pursuit for higher educational achievements.
The ongoing BECE has a total number of 44,471 students registered in the Western Region, comprising of 22,483 females and 21,988 males, with a total of 1,411 schools participating, which comprise 849 public schools and 562 private schools.
