Oburu Warns Politicians Against Hijacking Gen Z Cause

Bondo: Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga has warned the political class against infiltrating the Gen Z agenda to gain political mirage. Speaking in Bondo, where he presided over the donation of computers to schools, Dr. Oburu asked the political class to let Gen Z raise their issues and concerns without interference.

According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Oburu advised the political class not to seize the agenda of Gen Zs for their own purpose, urging them to allow Gen Zs to present their issues and to seek solutions without exploitation. He also called on the state to address the problems raised by Gen Zs without resorting to abductions and killings, emphasizing his stance against loss of life and property destruction, while supporting democracy.

The Senator also cautioned Gen Zs to adhere to the law when expressing their concerns, reminding them that the Constitution of Kenya provides an opportunity to remove underperforming leaders every five years through elections. He highlighted that demonstrations and picketing should be seen as expressions of dissatisfaction with the State and not as means to remove elected leaders.

Dr. Oburu questioned the youth’s calls to occupy State House, asking which constitutional provision supports such actions. He warned against inciting anarchy and urged the youth not to destroy the country, citing the experiences of neighboring countries that have faced wars.
