ICGC Commissions Ultra-Modern Hospital for Central University

Ningo-Prampram: The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has commissioned a 26-bed capacity ultra-modern hospital at the Miotso campus of the Central University College in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region. Rev. Dr Mensa Otabil, the General Overseer of ICGC and Chancellor of the Central University College, emphasized the importance of caring for the sick within community setups during the hospital’s handover ceremony.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Dr Mensa Otabil noted that the facility aims to enhance health delivery services and act as an extension of divine healing for those in need. He encouraged members of ICGC to support the hospital’s operations and ensure it remains fully functional. The hospital, although located on the university campus, is intended to serve both students and the broader community.

Professor Bill Buenor Puplampu, Vice Chancellor of the Central University College, highlighted the hospital’s potential to blend faith and science to benefit humanity. He mentioned that the facility could train students in various medical disciplines, addressing the existing doctor-to-patient ratio deficit in Ghana, which stands at one doctor to six thousand patients compared to the global standard of one doctor to a thousand patients. Professor Puplampu called on health sector stakeholders to tackle this issue.

The hospital features male and female wards, a laboratory, an obstetrics and gynaecology unit, a surgical and recovery ward, an ultrasound, a maternity ward, and a surgical theatre, among other facilities. The ceremony also honoured retired teaching and non-teaching staff of the university, who received citations and unspecified monetary gifts in recognition of their dedication to the institution since 1998.
