Effia: Mr. Abdul Majeed Dokurugu, the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive Officer, has announced that the 3,636 candidates from the area have been thoroughly prepared for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Mr. Dokurugu expressed confidence in the students’ readiness, citing a month-long assessment and monitoring exercise which demonstrated impressive performance during mock exams. He acknowledged the comprehensive coverage of subject areas by teachers and expressed his belief that the candidates would excel in the examinations.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dokurugu, accompanied by Mrs. Gloria Biney-Gontoh, the Municipal Director for Education, visited the seven examination centers within the municipality. He encouraged students to remain bold and confident, urging them to focus and perform well to bring pride to the municipality. The government, he stated, has provided numerous opportunities for further educational pursuits, including the youth apprenticeship programme, TVET, and STEM initiatives.
Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, the Islamic School Unit Manager, advised candidates on maintaining discipline and avoiding any form of cheating during the exams. He emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity of the examination process and conveyed his prayers for the students’ success.
Madam Gloria Biney-Gontoh highlighted that the Takoradi Technical University Centre would accommodate 2,668 candidates, while the Takoradi Senior High School would host 368 candidates during the week-long examinations. She reported that no pregnancies or special needs cases were identified during their visits.
Mrs. Biney-Gontoh assured that logistics and security measures were in place, with 105 invigilators, seven supervisors, and 11 assistant supervisors overseeing the process for the 87 registered schools. The 2025 BECE will see 1,398 private and 1,638 public school candidates participate, with a notable representation of 1,569 girls and 1,467 boys. Each candidate received a pencil, pen, and mathematical set to aid in their examinations.
