Wassa Amenfi Central: Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi Central, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women in the constituency to venture into vegetable farming to help drive socio-economic growth in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project will be implemented in batches, starting in Wassa Agona Amenfi, and will focus on cultivating crops such as lettuce, cabbage, pepper, spring onions, and carrots. The initiative aims to support women in acquiring land and accessing financial resources necessary for successful farming.
Mrs. Cudjoe highlighted vegetable farming as a lucrative income source, offering women the chance to achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence. She noted that the project provides an opportunity for women’s groups to engage collectively in farming, with guidance from technical experts and support from her office.
The initiative is expected to boost vegetable production and availability in the district, ultimately enhancing the livelihoods of participating women. Mrs. Cudjoe stressed the significant role that women play in family sustenance and the development of rural economies through food production and security. She called on other stakeholders to provide additional financial and technical support for the women involved in the project.
