WR GIPC Receives Mitsubishi Pick-Up Truck to Boost Regional Investment Operations

Accra: The Western, Central and Western North office of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has received a Mitsubishi pick-up truck to enhance operational efficiency. The gesture, mooted by the World Bank under the Ghana Economic Transformation Project, is aimed at boosting investment and achieving a 200-million-dollar investor attraction target for the country.

According to Ghana News Agency, the GIPC has already achieved 50 percent of this target. Mr. Simon Madjie, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, stated that the vehicle would significantly aid in executing the Centre’s mandate across the regions. He highlighted the Western Region’s rich natural resources, which occupy 10 percent of the country’s land area and include 17 agricultural districts, as a significant draw for potential investors.

Mr. Madjie also emphasized the Centre’s focus on increasing investment in manufacturing, agriculture, and agro-processing, aiming to transform the Western Region into a commercial agricultural hub. He noted that investments exceeding 100 million dollars have already been made in the oil sector, with hopes to attract further investment in the non-oil sector to create more job opportunities.

Furthermore, Mr. Madjie mentioned the collaborative efforts with Regional Ministers working closely with the Ministry for Trade, Agri-business, and Industry to develop a planned investment pitch aimed at attracting new investors to the regions. He urged individuals to demonstrate commitment in their work to attract both local and international investors, noting that the appreciation of the cedi would benefit the business community at large.
