Volta/Oti GJA Chairman Seeks Re-election with Promises of Unity and Transparency

Volta Oti: Mr. Emmanuel Korbla Agbaxode, the incumbent Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Chapter for the Volta/Oti Regions, has officially announced his candidacy for re-election in the upcoming chapter elections. He made this announcement following the submission of his nomination forms on Thursday, May 29.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agbaxode expressed his commitment to continue providing accountable and servant-leadership that is marked by transparency and unity. He emphasized his intent to utilize the experiences garnered during his first term to further enhance the vibrancy of the Association. Reflecting on the challenges faced in the past three years, he highlighted the lessons learned and the foundational work laid for future achievements.

During his tenure, Mr. Agbaxode focused on capacity building, organizing various workshops and training sessions aimed at enhancing the skills of journalists in the region. Looking ahead, he identified the completion of the Press Centre and housing projects for members as key priorities for the Chapter.

Mr. Agbaxode pledged to collaborate closely with major stakeholders, including the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, who is also a member of the Volta GJA and his former classmate from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. He aims to work with the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to expand the Association’s reach and create more opportunities for media professionals in the Volta and Oti Regions.

The election process includes vetting on June 3, followed by the balloting for positions on June 9, 2025. The official Notice of Polls will be posted from June 11-14, 2025. The campaign period is set from June 9-28, 2025, with voting centres to be published on June 18, 2025. The election is scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
