Asantehene Visits President Mahama to Congratulate Election Victory

Accra: Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, on Monday paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency in Accra. The visit was to congratulate President Mahama on his election victory in the December 7, 2024, general election and to reciprocate the President’s earlier visit to Manhyia shortly after assuming office.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Asantehene expressed appreciation for President Mahama’s visit to Manhyia, considering it an honor to him and the Asanteman. He commended the President’s performance over the past five months, acknowledging that he had been fulfilling his promises to the people of Ghana. The Otumfuo, who has known President Mahama for decades, praised his humility and urged him to maintain this quality while continuing his good works.

The Asantehene advised President Mahama to remain bold in his leadership, emphasizing the importance of not disappointing the Ghanaians who elected him. He also urged the President’s appointees to emulate his humility, work diligently, and remain focused on their responsibilities.

In response, President Mahama assured Otumfuo Osei Tutu and the Asanteman of his commitment to providing more infrastructural development projects. The President outlined his vision to complete the dualization of the Accra-Kumasi Road and expand key road infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region. He also mentioned plans to complete the Afari Military Hospital and Phase 2 of the Kejetia Market.

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was also present at the event.
