J.A. Plant Pool and Technical Universities in Ghana Partner with Chinese University for Youth Training Initiative

Liuzhou: J.A. Plant Pool Ghana Limited, in collaboration with Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Company Limited, Liuzhou Polytechnic University, and vice chancellors of technical universities in Ghana, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a Global Customer Experience Centre West Africa Branch and an International Craftsmen College in Ghana. The initiative aims to provide training in equipment operation, mechanical diagnostics, and after-sales service to empower the youth, enhance local content, and support national development.

According to Ghana News Agency, the MOU was signed in Liuzhou, China, marking a strategic partnership that integrates government, academia, and private sector leadership. This collaboration is seen as a model for Africa’s industrial future. The signing ceremony included prominent figures such as Mr. Qu Fan, Vice Chancellor of Liuzhou Polytechnic University; Mr. Huang Guangzhou, Service Director of LiuGong; and Madam Adwoa Frimpomaa Nimako-Boateng, Managing Director of J.A. Plant Pool Ghana Limited.

Additional attendees were Professor John Frank Eshun, Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University and Chairman of the Vice Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana, and Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, Vice Chancellor of Sunyani Technical University. Mr. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), also expressed the Ghanaian government’s strong support for the project.

Madam Nimako-Boateng highlighted the MoU as a pivotal moment in Ghana’s industrialisation efforts, emphasizing investment in both technology and human capital. She noted that the partnership aligns with the company’s vision to localize expertise and improve after-sales service delivery, while also complementing its involvement in the District Road Improvement Programme.

Mr. Qu Fan expressed a commitment to shaping Africa’s workforce by nurturing the next generation of craftsmen and engineers through practical, industry-aligned education. Mr. Huang Guangzhou emphasized the collaboration’s role in supporting customers through service, training, and skill transfer to empower local technicians.

Professor John Frank Eshun praised the MoU as a transformative development for Ghana’s technical education system, which will prepare institutions to deliver globally competitive training. He commended the collaboration between J.A. Plant Pool and LiuGong as an exemplary model of industry-academia partnership.

The event concluded with a tour of LiuGong’s advanced training and innovation center, where the Ghanaian delegation observed the simulators, diagnostics systems, and facilities that will serve as a blueprint for Ghana’s future training centers.
