Bono East Regional Minister Tasks MMDAs to Enhance Work Output

Techiman: Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, has challenged the 11 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region to enhance their work output and actively contribute to the government’s reset agenda. He emphasized the importance of deepening the decentralization concept to enable community participation in decision-making processes, ultimately aiming to build better communities.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Antwi made these remarks during the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC)’s ‘Agenda for Dissemination of the 2025 First Quarter Monitoring Findings’ meeting held in Techiman. He emphasized that it is the MMDAs’ duty to improve the livelihoods of the people and foster community development through active public engagement in decision-making processes.

The Regional Minister also encouraged the Assemblies to explore innovative strategies to boost revenue mobilization. He expressed confidence that with commitment and dedication, the government’s reset agenda could be achieved. He urged the MMDAs to work diligently to meet the targets outlined in their Medium-Term Development Plans.

Mr. Antwi highlighted that the successful implementation of the Medium-Term Development Plan would address both the immediate and emerging needs of local communities, thereby alleviating the challenges faced by residents. Mr. Isaac Mwangu, the Bono East Regional Planning Officer, also urged the MMDAs to prioritize regional development, expressing concern over the findings that indicated subpar performance by many of the MMDAs.
