Accra: The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee has announced that the vetting for candidates in the upcoming GJA elections will take place from June 3 to June 5, 2025. The vetting process is set to occur at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra for those vying for National Officer positions.
According to Ghana News Agency, candidates residing in regions outside of Accra, who are contesting for National Officer positions, will be vetted virtually. This virtual vetting will also apply to those contesting for Regional Officer positions, as stated in a press release issued by the Elections Committee of the GJA.
The list of eligible voters is expected to be published by Friday, May 30. The results of the vetting process, along with the final list of qualified candidates, will be announced on Friday, June 6, 2025. Balloting for positions on the ballot paper is scheduled for Monday, June 9, followed by the posting of the notice of poll from Wednesday, June 11 to Saturday, June 14.
The campaign period is slated to run from Monday, June 9 to Saturday, June 28. The designation and publication of voting centers will occur on Wednesday, June 18, with voting and counting set for Monday, June 30, 2025.
The GJA Elections Committee has urged all candidates and members to adhere to these key dates and procedures and to comply with the guidelines to ensure a smooth election process.
