President of Maniema Provincial Assembly Removed from Office

Kinshasa: The president of the Maniema Provincial Assembly, Makonga Toboka Iki Claude, has been removed from his position following a plenary session held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

According to Radio Okapi, out of the 19 deputies in the Maniema deliberative body, 18 voted in favor of the dismissal of Makonga Toboka Iki Claude. The charges against him include the misappropriation of state assets, opaque financial management of the Provincial Assembly, and demonstrable incompetence in fulfilling his duties. These reasons, which were previously highlighted in a petition submitted by a large majority of deputies, justified the decision to relieve him of his responsibilities.
