According to Radio Okapi, this development is a significant step towards modernizing the financial infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By enabling seamless transactions between mobile money operators, the Switch Musolo aims to enhance financial inclusion and simplify the process of transferring funds across different platforms.
In other economic news, the losses and foregone revenues in the oil sector have significantly decreased from $288 million to $31 million between 2023 and 2025. This improvement has been praised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of the review of the Extended Credit Facility program.
Additionally, the Zambian energy regulator has approved the construction of a high-voltage transmission line between Kalumbila and Kolwezi, which is expected to bolster the energy infrastructure in the region.
Efforts to empower women through training in tailoring and sewing are also underway, aiming to promote financial independence among women. Furthermore, the government is looking to structure micro-entrepreneur activities to tap into the more than $6 billion generated annually by this sector.
