Akatsi South: A total of 1,474 candidates, consisting of 688 boys and 786 girls, are set to undertake the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across six centers in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Akatsi South Municipal Education Directorate has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 BECE from Wednesday, June 11 to Tuesday, June 17, 2025. In a press release dated June 10, Mr. Karim Ayaana Umar, the Municipal Director of Education, revealed that the candidates include 1,171 from 57 public basic schools and 303 from 24 private basic schools.

Mr. Ayaana further detailed that the examination will take place at six centers located at four sites within the Municipality: Avenor Senior High School, Akatsi No. 1 Basic School, Akatsi Duawodome M.A. Basic School, and Akatsi Senior High Technical School. The Directorate has collaborated with Security agencies to ensure order and security at both the examination centers and storage depots.

Key guidelines have been issued by the Directorate for candidates and parents, including the requirement for candidates to arrive at least 30 minutes before the exams start. Mr. Ayaana emphasized that latecomers would not be allowed entry once an exam has begun, and that all candidates would be searched before entering and leaving the examination hall. Female candidates wearing veils or head coverings will be asked to temporarily remove them during the search process.

Further restrictions include a ban on calculators and mobile phones within the examination halls. Mr. Ayaana conveyed best wishes from the Directorate to all candidates, expressing confidence in their preparedness and urging them to maintain discipline and integrity throughout the examination period.

The Ghana News Agency observed a smooth atmosphere during a tour of some of the examination centers in the Akatsi township.
