The President of the Republic, Head of State, HE Mohamed Bazoum, received on Monday early evening June 6, 2022, the members of the High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (HAPDP).

During this meeting, the President of this institution, Ms. Sanadi Tchimaden Hadatan presented the President of the Republic with the HAPDP’s 2021 annual activity report.

The High Authority was created in 2017 to implement Niger’s law on the protection of personal data, said Ms. Sanadi Tchimaden when they left the hearing.

This law obliges the High Authority to transmit to the President of the Republic, each year, its report on the evolution of the protection of personal data in Niger, she specified.

The document, which is the summary of all the activities carried out in 2021, has six main points. In particular, it reviews the legal and institutional framework for the protection of personal data and the functioning of the HAPDP.

It also traces capacity building activities as well as awareness-raising actions for the benefit of all actors involved in the protection of personal data.

Finally, it presents the substance of the partnerships forged with national structures and describes the cooperation relationships established at regional and international level.
