Senate Approves President Tinubu’s Request To Appoint 20 Special Advisers

Senate has given expeditious approval to a request by the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu to appoint 20 Special Advisers.

President Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter read by President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan during plenary on Tuesday.

In the request, the President did not list the names of the 20 special advisers to be appointed. But Senate gave expeditious approval to the request after the letter was read.

Lawan said it was of utmost urgency that the President has his team to work with.

He said; “Because there is no name for special advisers, we will just approve it from here, We feel that this is something of utmost urgency.”

The request came a few days after President Tinubu announced the appointment of the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff, and former Minister of Special Duties, George Akume as the Secretary of Government of the Federation.

Meanwhile, the 9th Senate is scheduled to hold it’s valedictory session on Thursday, June 8th, 2023.
