Goulmou: The constituted bodies of the Goulmou region observed a minute of silence this Friday, October 31, 2025, in Fada N’Gourma, in memory of the citizens who fell during the popular uprising of October 2014, which ended the 27-year rule of former President Blaise Compaore. The ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of the Goulmou region, Siaka Ouattara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in the presence of representatives of the defense and security forces, administrative authorities, and constituted bodies, a minute of silence was observed on Friday, October 31, 2025, in homage to the victims of the popular uprising of October 30 and 31, 2014.
The Secretary General of the Goulmou region, Siaka Ouattara, stated that this minute of silence aims to honor the memory of all the victims who gave their lives to safeguard democratic gains in Burkina Faso. “It is our duty never to forget these women and men who stood up for the freedom, justice and dignity of our people,” said Mr. Ouattara.
The participants then called for the strengthening of social cohesion, forgiveness, and the preservation of peace, which are essential for the consolidation of the rule of law and the development of the nation.
Established in several localities across the country, the commemoration of October 31st remains a symbol of citizen resistance and the ongoing quest for virtuous governance in Burkina Faso.
