North Tongu: Madam Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of North Tongu, has reiterated her commitment to improving the quality of meals served under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) during a special engagement with caterers in the district. The event, which included a capacity-building workshop and a comprehensive health screening session, brought together caterers working under the GSFP to enhance their ability to deliver safe, nutritious meals to pupils across basic schools in the district.
According to Ghana News Agency, the caterers received training on key areas, including child nutrition, balanced meal planning, hygienic cooking practices, and maintaining a clean and safe food preparation environment. Madam Doe emphasized the critical role caterers play in supporting child development and academic success through the meals they provide. “We are not just serving food; we are investing in the health and future of our children,” she stated.
“As the District Chief Executive, I am committed to ensuring that every child under the GSFP in North Tongu receives not just a meal but a nutritious and hygienically prepared one that supports their learning and well-being.” The DCE commended the caterers for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve the quality of meals served in schools.
“Your dedication and commitment are commendable. I urge you to implement these best practices to ensure our children benefit fully from the programme,” she added. The caterers lauded the initiative and pledged their commitment to ensuring that they exercise professionalism and deliver efficiently for the well-being of the school children.
The initiative forms part of the district’s broader efforts to strengthen the implementation of the GSFP and promote the health and academic performance of pupils through improved nutrition.
