Accra: Newly ordained pastors into the Gospel Ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) Accra City Conference have been urged to live by their calling and allow the Holy Spirit to lead them. The nine pastors, who have been associate pastors for about six years, are now fully-fledged pastors with vested ecclesiastical authority to serve the church and lead God’s people.
According to Ghana News Agency, the ordination ceremony took place on the Sabbath at the Garrison SDA Church, Burma Camp, where the pastors were charged to lead as servants, exhibit a high sense of responsibility, and spend time with Jesus Christ. Pastor Kwabena Twum, Projects Director, Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Southern Ghana Union Conference, emphasized the need for the pastors to remain steadfast in their faith, be vessels of God, and prepare for challenges that may arise with their new responsibilities.
Pastor Twum highlighted the importance of maintaining spiritual vigilance, referencing Biblical accounts of trials following revivals, and urged the pastors to rely on the Holy Spirit. He encouraged them to focus on soul-winning and maintaining their heavenly credentials, emphasizing that being chosen for this role is a privilege and not a right.
The nine pastors ordained are Robert Bortey Ahia, Alex Baah, Isaac Asare Anim, Benjamin Brew, Emmanuel Nikoi Kotey, Emmanuel Danyame Quaicoo, Samuel Nyarko, Emmanuel Sarkodie Agyapong, and Phestus Benjamin Tawiah Boafo. Their ordination enables them to head churches or districts and officiate marriages and burials.
These pastors, who are all married with children, have completed their required academic and theological training. They are expected to contribute to the growth of the church by winning souls and planting new churches.
Pastor Dr. Thomas Techie Ocran, President, Southern Ghana Union Conference, SDA, urged the newly ordained pastors to embody the teachings of Jesus Christ and serve the congregation selflessly. He charged them to fulfill their duties as watchmen, teachers, and evangelists, while keeping the mission of spreading the everlasting gospel at the forefront of their ministry.
The church auditorium was vibrant with celebration as the pastors, along with their families, congregants, and well-wishers, expressed their gratitude for the divine honor bestowed upon them.
