Elmina: The Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT) has reiterated its commitment to practical learning and producing industry-ready graduates. This dedication was highlighted during the school’s second congregation and fourth matriculation ceremony held in Elmina, Central Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, NSBT demonstrated its focus on practical education through internship and attachment opportunities offered to students within the various Group Nduom (GN) Companies. These opportunities aim to prepare students for the job market by providing real-world experience. The ceremony was held under the theme: ‘Empowering graduates to drive innovation and creativity for economic growth and development.’
The ceremony celebrated graduates who pursued courses such as BSc. Banking and Finance, BSc. Information and Communication Technology, BSc. Information and Technology Management, and Diploma in Management Studies. Notably, Ms. Constance Yvette Owusu, the school’s first female SRC President, was named the overall best student for 2023, while Mr. David Malik Acquah received the title for 2024. Additionally, Ms. Vera Frimpong was recognized as the overall best graduating diploma student for 2024.
Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Chairman of the Governing Board of GN, emphasized the significance of strong industry-academia partnerships. He highlighted that the practical experiences provided to students make NSBT and its graduates unique. Dr. Nduom stated, ‘We prepare them to be productive after they leave here, and so we take attachments and work experience very seriously.’
The school, under the mentorship of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), graduated a total of 25 students from 2023 and 2024. The graduates included 14 males and 11 females, with achievements ranging from first class to pass.
NSBT also welcomed 62 new students to pursue various degree and diploma programs. As a testament to its commitment to practical training, the school celebrated four students who joined GN Electronics to successfully assemble 100 television sets. Dr. Nduom remarked on the success of the TVs, which are now available for purchase in Elmina.
In the banking sector, Dr. Nduom expressed optimism about regaining his banking license to complete and operate a stalled bank project on campus as a practical learning facility. He stressed the importance of this initiative for students to gain hands-on banking experience.
Dr. Nduom announced efforts to acquire a charter for NSBT to become a full-fledged university. He reassured the public of the school’s continuous progress and commitment to delivering relevant education.
Rev. Prof. Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, the Rector of the school, emphasized the unique education provided to students, which includes ethical training and compulsory French language courses. He encouraged graduates to utilize their skills and knowledge for the betterment of their communities and the nation.
