Ouagadougou: The municipal authorities of Ouargaye, led by the president of the special delegation, Mahamadou Soulama, carried out a visit to the advanced health post (PSA) of Lerghin, located in sector 3 of the commune. The infrastructure was built through the Integrated Emergency Health Response for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Populations (RUSI-PDI-PH) project, with financial support from the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the head doctor of the Ouargaye health district, Dr. Morou Nikiema, stated that this health post strengthens access to quality health care for local populations and internally displaced persons. “We are very pleased this morning, because the infrastructure and equipment planned will enable the agents assigned here to provide better care to the population,” he said. He also specified that care is completely free until December 31, 2025, for everyone, including children under five, pregnant women, the elderly, and adults.
The president of the special delegation, Mahamadou Soulama, expressed approval of the initiative, noting it will improve healthcare provision in the municipality. “Access to health care is not always easy in the commune of Ouargaye. This advanced health post therefore provides relief to the population and the internally displaced persons we welcome,” he stated. He also extended his gratitude to the WHO and all technical and financial partners for their support.
For the beneficiaries, this development is a significant relief. “We are very happy to have this health center, because since our displacement it was difficult to access care. Today, it is easier and we thank the authorities, health workers, and partners,” said Noukoubri Amsetou, a resident of sector 3.
The Lerghin advanced health post is expected to significantly improve health coverage in the commune of Ouargaye, benefiting both host and displaced populations.
