Lugari: Male parents and guardians in Lugari have been urged to actively participate in their children’s educational activities by supporting academic programs and attending school meetings when invited.
According to Kenya News Agency, Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera addressed the issue at Mbagara Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church, criticizing men for their lack of support in their children’s education, particularly their poor attendance at school meetings. Nabwera expressed concern that men have neglected their parental duties, leaving educational responsibilities to their wives, which he believes contributes to poor academic performance.
He encouraged parents to ensure their children return to school for the second term and work hard to reflect the efforts being made by his office to improve educational standards in the constituency. Nabwera stated, “I only have one problem. The male parents in this constituency are not actively engaged in the education affairs of their children.”
The lawmaker pointed out that the lack of male participation in school meetings is a factor in subpar student performance. He noted that when meetings are convened, female parents are usually the majority, with only a few men in attendance. Nabwera urged women to elect themselves to school Parents Associations if men are unwilling to participate in school meetings.
He challenged men to become more involved in their children’s education to foster academic excellence, emphasizing the importance of education for a better future.
