Koudougou: The association ‘Mon Faso d’abord’ organized last Saturday, on the grounds of the Place de la nation in Koudougou, the final of the Maracana des Patriotes engages, a citizen initiative aimed at strengthening social cohesion and demonstrating national support for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as the paramilitary bodies engaged in the fight against terrorism. Before this final, six teams from the different participating corps competed throughout the competition to secure their place in the final.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the latest incident pitted the National Police against the Penitentiary Security Guard (GSP). After regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw, with both goals scored in the second half, the finalists were separated by penalty kicks. The National Police finally won thanks to a single successful shot, synonymous with victory.

As for prizes, the champion went home with a set of jerseys, a ball, medals, the tournament trophy, and 25,000 CFA francs. The runner-up, GSP, received a set of jerseys, a ball, medals, and 15,000 CFA francs. The four other participating teams each left with a set of jerseys and a ball.

Present at the ceremony, Amidou Karambiri, technical advisor to the governor of the Nando region in charge of youth, welcomed the initiative on behalf of the regional authority. The tournament promoter, Koudougou Alassane Zoubga, president of the association “Mon Faso d’abord”, expressed satisfaction with the strong popular enthusiasm.

A collection of 32,000 CFA francs was made during the break for Faso-Mebo, to which will be added the promise of “a ton of cement” which will be offered by the association. The Maracana of the Patriots will continue in the Nando region. It has already been launched in Poa, Sabou and Thiou, in order to “glorify the security forces and strengthen social resilience through sport.”
