Jospong Group Signs MoU with City of Kinshasa to Revolutionise Waste Management

Kinshasa: Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, has emphasised the need for Africa to take control of its economy and work collectively to transform the continent. Dr. Agyepong highlighted the importance of African governments through concerted policy interventions to support indigenous African companies to drive economic growth and development across the continent.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Jospong Group Executive Chairman addressed newsmen following the signing of a major Memorandum of Understanding with the Kinshasa City Government. This move aims to tackle waste management challenges and offer integrated waste solutions in the city of Kinshasa. The agreement outlines the terms under which both parties will collaborate on a project focused on the collection, transportation, recovery, and conversion of municipal and other forms of waste into valuable products.

The Provincial Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development for the Province of Kinshasa, L©on Mulumba Mwana Nshiya, signed the MoU on behalf of the City of Kinshasa. Mrs. Florence Yawa Abbah initialled on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies. The event was witnessed by the Governor of Kinshasa Province, Daniel Bumba Lubaki, along with executives from the Governor’s office, the Provincial Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and the Jospong team.

Dr. Agyepong stated that global economic development demands a proactive approach to Africa’s economic transformation. He emphasized that supporting indigenous companies is crucial for the continent’s renaissance. By doing so, Africa can create a brighter future for itself and future generations. He highlighted the Jospong Group’s role in providing innovative solutions to create a healthy environment and stressed that waste management is a critical component of economic development.

The Governor of Kinshasa Province, Daniel Bumba Lubaki, underscored the continental importance of the project, noting that it will improve Kinshasa’s environmental well-being and serve as a model for Africa. He described the MoU as a significant step forward in addressing Kinshasa’s sanitation needs, while promoting sustainable waste management and recovery. The Governor highlighted that the inclusion of biochar production demonstrates a commitment to environmentally responsible waste reuse.

L©on Mulumba Mwana Nshiya remarked that the agreement symbolizes a strong will and commitment to building a cleaner, greener Kinshasa, marking a new era for sustainable urban sanitation in the city. Mr. Daniel Amuyaw Addo, part of the Jospong Group delegation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and reaffirmed Jospong’s dedication to providing innovative waste management solutions. As a gesture of goodwill, Mr. Addo presented a token of appreciation to the Governor of Kinshasa on behalf of the Jospong Group.
