Ituri: The caucus of deputies from the Ituri province has urged the government to rationalize the Defense Reserve (RAD) to counter the incursions of ADF rebels in the region. The recommendation was made during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, in Kinshasa.
According to Radio Okapi, the deputies have also called for strengthening the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) on the Nyamamba front to prevent the ADF rebels from making incursions. The president of the caucus, Pitchou Mbodina, highlighted the importance of accelerating the operationalization of the RAD as a means to mobilize the unemployed youth.
“We commend the efforts undertaken in the process of establishing the Defense Reserve. We wish the general staff would expedite the operationalization of the RAD, as it is a means to mobilize the youth. This meeting was an opportunity for us to encourage the FARDC engaged at Nyamamba against the ADF rebels. We have asked the Deputy Prime Minister of Defense to strengthen the personnel and military capabilities to face these rebels seeking to sow chaos,” Mbodina emphasized.
The Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense assured the Ituri deputies of increased efforts to ensure these recommendations are implemented. Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita also praised the involvement of these deputies in restoring lasting peace in the Ituri province.
