Ouagadougou: The population of Koankin, a commune in Boudry, came together on Saturday, September 27, 2025, to inaugurate the Captain Ibrahim Traore roundabout. The project, executed by the Youth Association for the Development of Koankin (ADJK), seeks to enhance unity, foster local initiatives, and support the endeavors of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the roundabout is prominently located at the intersection of the main roads in the village of Koankin. It stands as a masonry building, adorned with the images of the presidents from the three countries forming the Alliance of Sahel States (ESA). The inauguration event drew a significant crowd, reflecting the community’s interest and involvement.
The ceremony featured the patronage of His Majesty the Naba Tanga 2 of Nedogo and was attended by Mr. Diebale Tiemtore as vice-patron, along with Mr. Ismael Sawadogo, Mr. Yamba Madi Louis Nikiema, and Ablasse Athanse Yaogo. Koankin Youth President Boukare Kabore highlighted the roundabout’s purpose as a space for youth to convene, exchange ideas, and support national leadership and initiatives.
Kabore emphasized the youth’s desire to contribute to the country’s defense and development through this symbolic platform for consultation and mobilization. He and the women’s representative voiced concerns regarding infrastructure, including road conditions, health facilities, grain mills, dam maintenance, and the lack of youth and training centers.
Mr. Boukary Zoungrana, president of the Youth Association for the Development of Koankin, commended the local youth’s understanding and leadership under Captain Ibrahim Traore. He promised a grain mill for women and urged young people to avoid adulterated drinks and engage in security efforts.
Ismael Sawadogo, president of the Youth Council for the Development of the Sahel, called for unity and encouraged the construction of more infrastructure in villages. Co-sponsor Louis Yaogo drew parallels between the leadership of Captain Thomas Sankara and Captain Ibrahim Traore, urging the population to support and protect the latter from political manipulation.
Baloum Naaba, representing the chief of Nedogo, expressed gratitude to the youth and stressed the importance of educating children to foster a new generation of patriots. The event also saw the sponsor distributing 30 health insurance vouchers to children and ADJK providing food to vulnerable individuals and a medical bed to the village maternity ward.
This initiative in Koankin is part of a broader movement that includes several similar projects across the commune, following those in Nedogo, Wayalgui v2, and other localities in Boudry.
