Hohoe: Hohoe United Football Club, a Hohoe-based football club, has secured a first-ever Ghana Premier League position after an impressive 3-1 win over Inter Allies in their epic match played at the Hohoe Stadium on Sunday. The win marks a significant milestone for the club, which has been striving for top-flight football.
According to Ghana News Agency, the three goals for Hohoe United came from skipper Safian Osman in the 10th minute, Faruk Mohammed in the 30th minute, and Anass Ganiu, who sealed the victory with the third goal in the second half. Inter Allies FC’s Oswald Ofori Attah managed to score a consolatory goal during the third minute of the five-minute additional time, as given by referee Rustum Senorgbe.
With this victory, Hohoe United topped the 2024/2025 Access Bank Division One Zone Three League, amassing a total of 69 points from 29 matches. The club’s performance included 23 wins, four draws, and three losses, securing them a place in the next season’s Ghana Premier League competition. The final promotion spot will be decided through a playoff.
Mr. John-Peter Amewu, former Railway Development Minister and Chief Executive of the club, expressed his joy, stating, “To God be the glory! Hohoe United Football Club has made it to the Premier League, congratulations to us all.” In a Facebook post, Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency, described the win as historic.
The match was attended by notable figures, including Togbega Gabusu VII, Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area, and several divisional chiefs. They congratulated the team on their victory and their promotion, noting that this achievement would elevate Hohoe’s status.
