Govt Upgrades Key Road Connecting Nandi to Western Region

Nandi: The government has commenced the upgrade of a thirteen-kilometre road in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, aimed at connecting Nandi with the counties of Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, and Bungoma upon its completion.

According to Kenya News Agency, the road stretching from Kaiboi Centre to Kipkaren River is anticipated to address numerous challenges reported during rainy weather, as expressed by residents.

Local traders expressed their relief, noting that conducting business within the constituency has been fraught with difficulty due to the poor road network. Ebby Chemutai, a resident, highlighted that inadequate roads have previously endangered lives during medical emergencies and childbirth, emphasizing that the upgraded road will be crucial in saving lives.

Ben Majengo, a vendor from Kakamega County, shared his optimism about the road’s completion, noting that it will bring significant benefits to local businessmen. He anticipates that the development will spur the growth of various centers and create numerous business opportunities for the local population.

Henry Bittok, residing in Kipkaren River, expressed confidence that the improved road infrastructure will enable timely delivery of farm products to markets. He also encouraged the establishment of industries like sugar milling to further benefit local farmers.

Residents also appreciated the job opportunities created by the road-upgrading works, which have provided employment for hundreds of locals, positively impacting local businesses as well.
