Govt Launches 59th Huduma Centre in Mogotio to Enhance Service Access

Mogotio: Residents of Mogotio sub-county, Baringo County, will now access government services conveniently after the government established a new Huduma Centre in Mogotio town. This development marks a significant relief for the locals who previously had to travel more than 100 kilometers to Nakuru County to avail themselves of essential services.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Centre’s inauguration was officiated by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, who emphasized the reduction in travel burdens for residents. Ruku highlighted that the Centre will offer a wide array of services, including driving licenses, Uwezo fund services, Adult Education, KRA services, and more, thus ending the tedious journeys to Nakuru and Eldama Ravine.

Ruku also addressed the new SHA directive that requires members to pay premiums annually. He encouraged Kenyans to utilize the Hustler Fund Website to pay SHA in instalments, ensuring affordability. The Cabinet Secretary expressed confidence in the government’s development achievements under President Dr. William Ruto and highlighted several ongoing projects in Mogotio, such as the Sh55 million sports academy and the Sh1.5 billion Affordable Housing Project.

The event was attended by local leaders, including area member of parliament Reuben Kiborek, who praised the Huduma Centre initiative for transforming service delivery. Huduma Centre CEO Mr. Benjamin Kai Chilumo noted that the new centre offers 52 government services and 22,000 digitized services, all while being fully powered by solar energy to prevent power-related disruptions.

Residents expressed their joy at the opening, with many narrating their previous struggles in accessing government services. Alfred Sergon, a local youth, mentioned plans to use the Centre’s free internet to seek job opportunities, while Selly Kipsang highlighted the cost savings from reduced travel expenses.
