Marrakech – The second edition of Gitex Africa achieved all its objectives by offering participating startups promising prospects for empowering their future growth, said the president of the exhibition’s organizing company, Kaoun International, Trixie LohMirmand.
“This event fulfilled all its objectives, judging by the large number of participants, the quality of exchanges, the range of agreements signed, and the commitments shown in terms of networking, collaboration, and partnership,” Ms. LohMirmand told MAP at the closing of this technological mega-event.
This year, she noted, startups had the opportunity to hold meetings with investors invited to the show, adding that “400 investors took part in the event, 70% of whom were foreign.”
“This remarkable participation demonstrates the interest shown in Morocco’s ecosystem,” the executive stated, adding that the event had resulted in “the signing of several partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding to collaborate with Moroccan and internationa
l companies.”
Focusing on the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving development on the African continent, Ms. LohMirmand said that “AI will be a very important technological transformative power in Africa, given the talent that comes from Africa, particularly Morocco.”
This edition of Gitex paid particular attention to this technology, as evidenced by the presence of “many global experts who came to help the public understand the future of the AI economy,” she said.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Gitex Africa featured 1,500 exhibitors from over 130 countries. The event was an opportunity to exchange views on the latest technological developments, particularly in the fields of AI, healthcare, and cybersecurity.
