Gyahaadze: The Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village (MRSV) in Gyahaadze, Effutu District, Central Region, has received a donation valued at GHC78,000 from the Ghana International Women’s Club (GIWC). The donation, which includes assorted items and meditation, is aimed at supporting the shelter for underprivileged children.

According to Ghana News Agency, the donation is part of the GIWC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Contributions from club members and assistance from Unichem Ghana Ltd, Letap Pharmaceuticals, GR Industries, Gokals-Laborex Ltd, and Ghandour Cosmetics facilitated the donation. Madam Rachel Wilkinson-Inja, Chairperson of the GIWC welfare committee, stated that the club is committed to aiding the underprivileged and finds satisfaction in their efforts.

Madam Wilkinson-Inja highlighted the significance of fundraisers and private contributions in sustaining the club’s activities. She expressed gratitude to their partners and urged other organizations to support their initiatives. The donated items included essential food supplies like rice, beans, gari, sugar, sachet milk, sachet Milo, tomato paste, canned mackerel, and detergents.

Rev. Dr. Nana Abekah, Director of MRSV, received the donation and expressed gratitude, emphasizing the impact it would have on the shelter’s operations. He explained that the shelter addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children. Starting with six children, the shelter now houses 94 children, with 13 in tertiary institutions and one in a tailoring apprenticeship.

Rev. Dr. Abekah appealed for additional support, noting that besides assistance from the Methodist Church, the facility relies on the generosity of organizations like the GIWC.
