Gourma: As part of the 2nd phase of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), the national gendarmerie of Fada N’Gourma proceeded to a solemn raising of the national colors at the Vocational Training Center (CFP), in the presence of students and their supervisors.
According to Burkina Information Agency, dressed in their school uniforms, the students sang the national anthem, the Ditanye, in unison under the supervision of the gendarmes. The symbolic gesture reflects their adherence to the nation’s values and their attachment to their homeland. The commander of the 6th National Gendarmerie Legion, Lieutenant-Colonel Kiswendsida Wilfried Taoko, invited the students to consider the gendarmes as brothers and sisters, working for the protection of people and property.
“The gendarmerie is a human force. It acts with you and for you,” he declared, before calling on young people to collaborate closely with the Defense and Security Forces for the common good. Addressing the issue of patriotism, Lieutenant Colonel Taoko recalled that “since 2015, our country has been facing the terrorist hydra.”
According to him, only the rediscovery of the values of integrity and love of the fatherland advocated by President Thomas Sankara will make it possible to triumph over this scourge. “If we had remained faithful to these values, terrorism would have disappeared in two days,” he stressed.
The commander of the 6th National Gendarmerie Legion also stressed the importance of order and discipline, urging students to respect the rules, both at school and on the road. “Everyone must tell themselves that disorder and indiscipline must not come through them,” he urged.
Congratulating the students for their choice of vocational training, he indicated that this type of training is a lever for development. “A professionally trained student will know how to reject easy money and defend the values of his country,” he insisted, encouraging them to persevere and be diligent.
The director of the Vocational Training Center (CFP), Brother Eugene Tougma, expressed his gratitude to the gendarmerie for its commitment and sense of sacrifice, often at the risk of life. As a gesture of solidarity, the gendarmes donated buckets to the center to improve sanitation in the school environment.
This activity reflects the commitment of the National Gendarmerie to promoting civic-mindedness, discipline, and patriotism, the foundations of living together and peace in Burkina Faso.
