Gathecha Celebrated for Championing Digital Public Service Reform

Nairobi: Huduma Kenya Secretariat has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s public sector transformation agenda through the digitalisation of services. Led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ben Kai Chilumo, the team emphasised the importance of collaborative leadership and inter-agency cooperation in sustaining the achievements made under the Huduma programme.

According to Kenya News Agency, the team made the assurance Friday when they paid a congratulatory visit to the Deputy Head of Public Service, Mr. Amos Gathecha, at Harambee House in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to transforming service delivery across the public sector. They congratulated Mr. Gathecha on his recent promotion and commended his contribution to public service reforms. The team acknowledged Gathecha’s instrumental role in advancing citizen-focused reforms and fostering innovation in service delivery during his tenure as Principal Secretary.

Mr. Chilumo said under his guidance, Huduma Kenya recorded notable progress in modernising access to government services, commending his dedication to promoting efficiency, transparency, and innovation within the public sector. In his remarks, Mr. Gathecha expressed appreciation for the courtesy call and lauded the Huduma Kenya Secretariat for their continued efforts in enhancing service delivery across the country.

He underscored the importance of teamwork and a shared vision in building a responsive and inclusive public service. ‘The success of Huduma Kenya demonstrates what is possible when institutions work together to serve citizens better,’ he said. He further encouraged the team to maintain the momentum in innovation and align their efforts with the broader government strategy on digital transformation and public sector efficiency.

Huduma Kenya remains a flagship programme under the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management. The initiative has received both national and international recognition for revolutionising access to government services by offering over 70 integrated services under one roof in centres established across all the country’s 47 counties.

The visit concluded with a renewed commitment to citizen-centred service delivery and a call for continued collaboration among public institutions to build an efficient, transparent, and people-driven public sector.
