Ethiopian Christians Observing Good Friday

Ethiopian Christians across the nation are observing Good Friday to commemorate the crucifixion and suffering of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday is seen as a day of mourning as the whole day is spent with fasting, prayer and repentance remembering the pain and suffering of Jisus.

On this day, the faithful attends church services starting from early in the morning until sunset.

During their stay at churches, the faithful bow down repeatedly to remember the pain and suffering of Jesus and request for forgiveness from him for their sins.

The day leading up to Easter Sunday is called Himamat (suffering, pains and grief) and is marked on Good Friday.

Easter is a colorful religious holiday that will be celebrated by Ethiopians Christians on Sunday following the end of 55 day long lent.
