Addis Ababa: The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has announced that Ethiopia is taking strategic and effective measures to modernize its logistics sector and position itself as a key player in regional and global trade.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, State Minister of Transport and Logistics Denge Boru stated that the government has prioritized logistics reform in alignment with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) integration. Over the past six years, a comprehensive national strategy has been implemented to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the sector, and as a result, several initiatives have yielded promising outcomes, the State Minister noted.

‘A flexible and modern logistics system is essential for ensuring global competitiveness,’ he said, stating that the government is working to bring Ethiopia’s logistics infrastructure up to international standards. The state minister added that special attention is being given to developing systems that support the movement of globally competitive products, particularly within the AfCFTA framework.

Efforts are also underway to introduce modern logistics solutions that align with international and regional trade agreements, he noted. He also emphasized that these ongoing reforms will not only enhance Ethiopia’s logistics capabilities but also strengthen its position on the global stage and its role in Africa’s economic integration.
