Johannesburg: The Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture has extended its congratulations to South Africa’s Under-20 national soccer team for their historic triumph at the Afcon Championship. This achievement marks the first victory for the team at this prestigious tournament.
According to African Press Organization, Chairperson Mr. Joe McGluwa praised the team’s success, emphasizing their impressive wins against Nigeria in the semi-finals and Morocco in the final. He noted that this victory serves as a foundation for the future of South African soccer stars. Mr. McGluwa urged the South African Football Association (SAFA) to seize this opportunity to build momentum, create youth empowerment programs, and ensure that excellence is recognized and rewarded.
The committee also commended the young players for their determination and courage, particularly because they achieved this success while playing away from home.
